From the Superintendent by Kent Barnes
Great Sports
Today, I received a communication from the Michigan High School Athletic Association that read as follows:
The MHSAA would like to congratulate Holly High School for receiving no [emphasis mine] negative officials reports of concern, ejection, or sportsmanship during the previous school year. It is a credit to your student-athletes, coaches, administration, staff, and community for demonstrating such positive sportsmanship throughout the entire school year.
I too am exceedingly proud of our athletic programs, coaches, and our student-athletes for many reasons. Likewise, I am proud of our communities as they attend our athletic events and display their support in an appropriate manner. Such a communication as this one merely reflects the type of programs and communities that exist in our school district. The MHSAA provided an information sheet that summarized the school year reporting results for all MHSAA member high schools. In the sports of baseball, boys basketball, boys lacrosse, boys soccer, boys swimming, boys track, football, girls basketball, girls lacrosse, girls soccer, ice hockey, softball, volleyball, and wrestling, the following statistics emerged.:
Player ejections - 780
Coach ejections- 174
Schools received "Reports of Concern" ranging from 221 schools with one such report to four schools receiving four such reports. One school even had eight such reports.
I just wanted to share this communication and my appreciation for everyone involved in our school district's athletic programs. Kudos to everyone involved in our sports programs.

I can't wait to take my kids to Holly High School football games this fall! I've been waiting for them to mature to an age that they can handle such events. It's nice to know that the athletes and crowds they will witness also exhibit a mature enthusiasm. Holly, you should be so proud!
